Forgotton Celts News

January 6, 2008 -The Meritime Heritage Network has listed Upon a Forgotton Shore as their album of the week. Check them out at http://www.maritimeheritage.net/

July 12, 2007 - We're back from the Northwest Renaissance Fair! Spokane was hot but we survived the fair. Quite a bit more patrons this year, considering it was raining last year, and we played to much bigger audiences this time. The cast was fun as usual and very receptive and we dug their storyline for this year. It was also always a lot of fun to finish off the day with a good round of Dark Lady with everyone. We definitely look forward to playing there again next year!

Don't forget we're at the Washington Renaissance Fantasy Faire this year as well and the schedule has been posted online Here. Looks like we'll be at McLean's Dock and the Shadow Glen stage all three weekends. Also don't forget to check out our friends BOWI, Hawke, and Red Hugh as well!

March 9, 2007 - Our Summer Schedule has been posted! We are doing both the Washington State Ren Faire and the Northwest Ren Faire. check out our gigs to see the dates.

Hope everyone has plans for St. Paddy's day. Some of us will be enjoying a show on the pennisula by Mick Maloney, one of the leading Irish musicians from Ireland. Others will be catching the Whistling Oysters show.

January 11, 2007 - We're not dead, Honest! For a quick recap of what's happened since the last time news was posted...

The Washington Ren Faire was fun. We only played Saturdays due to conflicting work schedules but otherwise went off without a hitch. We've had a break since then, once again due to work conflicts, but we'll be at Ursalmas (an SCA event) on January 27th for anyone who wants to see us.

We're also not going to be doing a St. Patricks day show this year as we're doing a bit of re-organization with the band so you'll find some of us at a Mick Maloney concert on the penninsula (as well as probably any bar between here and there).

Be sure to check back for more news later as once we get things organized we'll be posting more information then.

June 12, 2006 - We're back from from NWRF! The fair was small but fun non-the-less. Saturday was mostly rained out but a few patrons still showed so there was a "Ren Faire On Demand" in the church (which was the only covered place). Sunday saw more crowds and we got a chance to see a lot of the other performers and shows as well as actually do all of our own shows. We're definitely looking forward to doing this next year. There are a few pics to be posted but thanks to the weather the camera wasn't brought out too much. Should have those up soon though.

May 12, 2006 - Summer schedule is posted. Check out the gigs section to see where we'll be! It should be a blast. As well as the current schedule some of us will be at the Mideaval Faire in Port Gamble on the first weekend of June.

March 19, 2006 - St Patty's Day was Great, thanks to everyone who showed up! We had a gianormous crowd and a lot of people had fun. Unfortunately we had to stop at 10pm sharp due to outside noise regulations on Alki but it was a blast none-the-less. Should have pictures posted soon.

March 10, 2006 - Upon a Forgotton Shore is now available for purchase online! Go to CDBaby and check us out in the World - Celtic section or click here to go straight to the album.

March 3, 2006 - The Forgotton Celts will be at the Celtic Swell on St Patty's day! Everything is booked and we'll be performing from 8pm to 11pm (or whenever we get kicked off the stage). Be sure to come by early as our friends in BOWI will be performing from 4 to 7. This is the same place we were at last year so for those who remember it we are sure to have a blast!

February 6, 2006 - The Forgotton Celts are back in action! After a few months off we are back and gearing up for St Patricks day. It looks like we'll be back at the Celtic Swell this year but details are still being ironed out.

Also check back to find out when our CD's will be for sale online!

August 30, 2005 - The Washington State Ren/Fantasy Faire pics are up!

August 24, 2005 - Back from the Gig Harbor Ren Faire!

Faire was a blast this year. Thanks to everyone who showed up (and bought our new CD) and we hope everyone enjoyed faire as much as we did. Pics should be posted sometime next week (hopefully along with the Port Angeles Ren Faire pics). We also got invited to a fair in Illinois that is October 8-10 so keep a lookout in our upcoming gigs for updates.

Also be sure to check out music.download.com as we've uploaded another track from our album. We should hopefully have that purchasable online here pretty soon as well.

August 2, 2005 - The CD has been released!

We got 1,000 copies from the duplicator and we are off and cooking. Next step, Ren Faire!

July 26, 2005 - Preview of the upcoming CD released on CNET's music.download.com.

Go there to download the first track from the upcoming CD, "Goodbye Mick"!

July 19, 2005 - Upcoming CD title announced! "Upon a Forgotton Shore"

The CD itself has been sent in for duplication and should be pressed and back to us in time for the Washington State Ren/Fantasy Faire in August.

June 20, 2005 - Well the last two weekends in Port Angeles were a blast. The weather was kind enough to not dump rain on us the whole time so we had a few good shows. Turn out was great at the Pirates and we definitely look forward to doing the fairs again next year. Pictures from both weekends will be posted in the next couple weeks.

CD Update! We are almost done laying down the tracks and have started mixing. We are definitely on track for releasing the CD at the Washington Ren Fantasy Faire. Be sure to keep an eye out for the release newsletter as we'll be posting some teaser mp3's of the new album on our music.download.com site!

June 6, 2005 - Fair season is right around the corner. Be sure to come out and show your support of the band at the Port Angeles Fair this weekend (details in the upcoming gigs section).

As some may have heard we are now working on a new album. We've got it narrowed down to about 15 tracks and have been in the studio for the past month or so recording. Official album details will be posted around the end of the month. We are looking to have it released at the Washington State Renaissance Festival and we are going to try and do an unofficial release party at the event itself.

May 5, 2005 - We have officially parted ways with Father John, our fiddle player. I think his post in the forums concerning the matter best states the situation so it will be quoted here:

"In an attempt to maintain parity with BOWI who recently lost their fiddle player, the Forgotton Celts have parted ways with good ol' me (Father John, fiddler ordinaire) and will continue to produce high-quality drinkin' music without my assorted scratches, plinks and screeches.

Like many band personnel changes, this one goes down to "artistic differences," which lacks specificity but has the lovely savor of brevity.

It's a rare party that you never have to leave, but that doesn't mean it was a mistake to show up. So as I turn the key and head on down the road, I'll just say that I had a blast playing for a year with the Celts and wish all well.

-- Father John"

April 12, 2005 - So a little late on the updating but the Patty's Day pictures are posted now. You'll find them in the previous gig section. The day itself went great for those who couldn't make it. We were outside so it was a bit cold but a little liquid warmth helped with that. The first show was pretty calm as it was still afternoon but the evening show was completely packed. A lot of people came out and had a great time. Luckily for the pub owner there was no fights breaking out and only a couple people got a little too roudy. Thanks to everyone who did show up, it was a blast!

Fair season is slowly encroaching. Check in our upcoming gigs section to see a list of the fairs we will be performing at. You also might see some of us at the upcoming SCA events and there will definitely be a few of us busking at the Port Gamble Medieval Faire (June Faire for those in the SCA).

As a recording update we'll be back in the studio in the next month or so to try and crank out as much as we can. We'll hopefully have the new CD before fair season but we're looking at a more realistic goal of having it completed in July.
